Fashion Tip: Lengthen your jeans

If your jeans are shrinking on you length wise after washing them a few times you can stretch them out so it doesn’t look like your waiting for a flood to come through. Short jeans are very unfashionable.

First wash your jeans in cold water. Then hold them by the seems of the jeans and pull on the bottoms of the jeans for a few minutes to lengthen the jeans. You can typically get another 1.5 to 2 inches depending on the jeans. Finally hang them up to dry. For best results attach clips on the bottom of the jeans with a little weight to help pull the jeans while drying.

Celebrity Fashion - Timberlake vs Law

Image from People Magazine

Celebrity Fashion: Justin Timberlake vs. Jude Law

Justin Timberlake: Great looking suit. The classic black suit, white shirt and black tie always looks classy. The hat and the skinny tie have to go. Accessories like hats should only be worn if they are complimenting the outfit. The skinny tie look will never be fashionable in my opinion.

Jude Law: Excellent pin-stripped blazer. The blazer looks properly tailored and compliments his slim figure. The undershirt just doesn’t do it for me. Suit jackets and blazers should always be worn with a collared shirt. The hat is not working for Jude either.

2. New Shoes to look sharp while working out or looking sharp from head to toe.

3. A new Suit for the new year for all the important meetings for 2007.

Celebrity Fashion - Clooney vs Pitt

George Clooney vs. Brad Pitt

I have to say both men are always well dressed. You never see either of these men out in public without great looking threads on.

George Clooney is wearing a single breasted blazer and a nice dress shirt. The only thing wrong with this outfit is that the collar buttons are buttoned, which is a fashion no-no. The collar buttons should only be buttoned if you have a tie on. I think Clooney pulls the sunglasses off better than Brad, they are more his style.

Brad Pitt is wearing a nice light tan blazer with a striped shirt. A very seductive and casual look for Brad especially with his shirt unbuttoned. Brad should stick with his chic style sunglasses he typically wears.

Fashion Police at a Business Conference

Business Men in SuitsAt a recent conference in Houston, TX, I was very disappointed with the attire for many of the men. All of them were business professionals but had no clue on what to wear and what not to wear in a business environment. When doing business with someone, first impressions are everything. At a business conference you are selling yourself and your business. If you are confident in what you wear it shows in your confidence about your business. I am not saying that business men who can’t dress aren’t great businessmen because there are plenty of them out there. I am saying they would be better businessmen if they presented themselves better with their attire. Most of the business men wore a blazer that didn’t match their slacks or had a tie that didn’t go with the slacks and their shirt.

When preparing for a conference think about the different situations and events that you will be attending. Then prepare an outfit for each occasion and make sure that all your clothes and accessories match. You can’t just through on a blazer for the cocktail hour and think its ok even if the blazer doesn’t match the outfit. Please bring matching black shoes and belt or brown shoes and belt, I think miss-matched shoes and belt screams Fashion Police.

10 Rules of Style

1. Style is about personality. The same thing can look cool on one guy and disgusting on another. A basic suit would never look boring on Sean Penn because he has so much character.

2. Hats should become a “must” again. All my shows have had hats made with Parisian milliner Maison Michel. The models try to steal them.

3. Jeans aren’t my thing. My version of jeans are baggy black pants. The only real pair I own are Helmut Lang.

4. The ruggedness of a three-day beard balances a nice suit. I don’t like a shaved face. It’s a problem when we do the shows in Paris after Milan. The models come back looking like Barbie dolls. I don’t even recognize them.

5. The Belle Époque was such a stylish time for men—it was all about bow ties and hats, black and white. You can’t go back to that, but you can draw inspiration from it.

6. The vest is the new jacket. It looks smart, but it’s not restrictive. In the summer, I’m always wearing T-shirts with vests.

7. If you asked me a year ago which color I would never use, I would have said yellow. But the inspiration of my spring show had a slight eighties feel—American Gigolo—so there was a lot of yellow and red. Never say never.

8. I love tattoos on other people. I’ve always been too scared to do it. It’s not the pain I’m afraid of—it’s wanting to get rid of it the next day. Body piercings are not for me, but I do wear Cartier diamonds in my left ear.

9. Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are the coolest couple on earth. When you see them together, it’s like, “Wow!” He‘s the only man who can make funny glasses look cool.

10. I’m not a white-space addict anymore. My old apartment was a loft in a very gray industrial building with nothing inside. Now my home has objects and paintings, like a little framed Madonna from a flea market, to make it my own.
